Since our founding in 1997 as Panasonic’s semiconductor division, Miraxia Edge Technology has continued to grow alongside the technological evolution of various electronic devices, semiconductors, and electronic components. We have not only grown as a company but have also kept pace with changing needs and technological advancements over the years, acquiring new technologies along the way. Today, we have grown to the point where we participate in national research projects related to semiconductor manufacturing technology development. Initial Development
for the Digitalization of
Home Appliances

Miraxia Edge Technology

With the launch of “terrestrial digital broadcasting” scheduled to begin in 2003, major home appliance manufacturers began developing digital products. Driven by growing demand within Panasonic, we participated in the development of LSIs for multimedia-compatible products such as digital televisions, DVD recorders, and digital cameras. We developed everything from dedicated LSI circuit designs to LSI development tools such as SDKs, compilers, operating systems, and debuggers. We also developed embedded software for these systems.

2000s

Optimization for
Multimedia Processing

This was an era marked by rising demand for multimedia-capable products that handle both audio and video—driven by the widespread adoption of mobile phones (often referred to today as “Galápagos phones”), the launch of terrestrial digital television, and the shift from film to digital cameras. Competition among manufacturers intensified across all product categories, leading to a steady stream of new models with enhanced features and performance. Amid this competition, our company has steadily acquired skills and expertise by participating in the development of proprietary processors and LSIs, while also leveraging open-source software (OSS) for Linux development and implementing standards-compliant real-time systems.

With the advent of 4G, network technology adoption was accelerated, ushering in an era of the Internet of Things (IoT) and multimedia in automobiles. Against the backdrop of Panasonic’s shift away from the semiconductor business, Miraxia began expanding its scope into other sectors, such as the automotive industry, to address the growing demand for security measures for products that remain constantly connected to the internet, as well as to ensure compliance with industry standards and functional safety for automotive applications. It was also around this time that we began handling semiconductors from various manufacturers and initiating development efforts.

With the widespread adoption of 4G/LTE, electronic devices gained the ability to communicate at higher speeds and with greater data capacity. Furthermore, the advent of GPUs drove the widespread adoption of network communications not only in televisions, smartphones, and game consoles, but also in a wide range of applications such as in-vehicle products like car navigation systems and the digital management of manufacturing processes in factories, thereby accelerating the digital transformation of society. In response to this growth in the in-vehicle and industrial markets, we began developing technologies that serve as the precursors to today’s driver assistance systems, as well as technologies to realize smart factories.

A broad track record of development and support that forms the foundation of our DSI skills.

When it comes to embedded operating systems such as real-time OS (RTOS), Linux, and Android, it is rare to simply use SDKs provided by third parties or semiconductor vendors as-is. Instead, a broad range of knowledge and technical expertise is required to achieve target performance and reliability within limited hardware resources. For this reason, we possess open-source software technologies—including the underlying OS, compilers, and various device control libraries—that serve as the foundation for maximizing semiconductor performance. We have the technical capabilities to develop value-added products that go beyond what can be achieved with basic software alone. This accumulation of technical expertise forms the foundation of our unique “DSI Skills.” Furthermore, we have extensive knowledge, experience, and a proven track record in technical support, which enables us to address current needs and requirements such as security vulnerability management in Linux development and operations, in response to the recent advancement of loT.
